Studio FAQs

Facials

  • I recommend that people have a professional facial about every 3 to 4 weeks — that’s how long it takes for the full life cycle of skin cell growth and exfoliation. Regular professional facials optimize skin renewal and allows for the seasonal adjustments that need to be made for skin health and vitality. Scheduling a facial every 3 to 4 weeks helps you maintain a beautiful glow all month long.

  • You bet, leave it to me! Schedule The Mirella Signature Facial and while I analyze your skin, I’ll help you select the best facial based on your skin type and concerns.

  • In order to maximize your skin care benefits and prolong the effects of your treatment, you’ll be given recommendations for the home care products that are ideal for your specific skin care needs. I’ll show you how to use them and send you home with detailed instructions in case you need a quick refresher.

  • Facial treatments are relaxing and can restore balance and hydration to your skin during and after cancer treatment. I use oncology-safe products to ensure your skin is properly cared for and nourished.

I recommend that you consult with your oncologist before scheduling a facial treatment. It is safe to have skin care services during treatment and recovery from cancer, as long as your esthetician is certified in oncology esthetics. I received my certification in oncology esthetics from San Raffaele Hospital and Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, Italy, in collaboration with the ONCOLOGY Training Institute.

Peels

  • An Image Skincare Treatment involves the highest-grade cosmeceutical skin peel, which is a resurfacing treatment designed to improve and enhance the skin. Its benefits include skin clarity, even skin tone, uniform colour and improved texture. Image Skincare offers a variety of different peeling solutions for various skin conditions, including acne, aging, sun damage, rosacea or hyperpigmentation. All of our peels are formulated in a revolutionary aloe vera-based gel to protect the skin simultaneously. I will choose the most suitable treatment for you following your consultation.

  • For optimal results peels should be done in a series of four to six peels every two weeks, depending on the skin care concerns.

  • You may not be a good candidate for a peel if the following apply:

    • You have sun or windburn.

    • You currently have active herpes (cold sores).

    • You have broken skin or scrapes.

    • You are pregnant or nursing (except for the ORMEDIC PEEL — this one’s for you!).

    • If you have taken Accutane in the past 12 months.

    • If you have used Retinol-A/Renova, Azelex (Azelacic Acid), or Differin (Adapalene) in the seven days prior to your peel.

    • You are a current user of hydrocortisone.

    • You are currently being treated for a facial skin disease by a dermatologist.

    • You have a history of radiation to the region.

    • You have visible redness, irritation, or inflammation.

    • You have open sores, suspicious blemishes, bleeding, or basal cell carcinoma.

    • You’ve had cosmetic injections within five days.

    • You’ve had any recent cosmetic surgery. You will need to consult with your physician prior to booking a treatment.

Advanced Treatments

  • Low-level light therapy, based on light emitting diode (LED) technology, is the application of light energy to the skin and body for therapeutic benefits. This treatment is suitable for all skin types, is painless, and requires absolutely no downtime. You will leave your session with glowing skin!

  • Originally developed by NASA scientists to accelerate wound healing in injured astronauts, low-level light therapy is used today as a safe and natural skin treatment.

You know how plants convert light into energy for growth? Our cells can do that too! Skin cells absorb light energy from LEDs and convert it into cellular energy (ATP). ATP is necessary for cell functioning and powers a number of processes — for example, collagen synthesis.

During your treatment, I thoroughly cleanse your skin, apply a pair of goggles for your comfort, and then position the LED light panel over your face. Most clients find the treatment incredibly relaxing, and many even fall asleep during this part of the facial.

  • Depending on the program series, LED can:

    • kill acne-causing bacteria and treat mild-to-moderate acne.

    • stimulate collagen production and improve the appearance of fine lines.

    • accelerate healing and repair.

    • reduce inflammation.

    • increase circulation and give skin a beautiful glow.

Research has also shown that LED light therapy may help smooth skin texture, improve skin resilience, increase lymphatic system activity, restore skin’s natural cellular activity, and reduce the appearance of superficial hyperpigmentation.
